Our local football clubs are already preparing for the 2025/26 football season, and on the show this week we had reports from two pre-season friendlies.

Andy Gardener was at the Brentwood Centre Arena to watch Brentwood Town – who are about to begin life in the Isthmian Premier League for the first time in 15 years following their North Division title triumph last season – take on Hornchurch of the National League South.

Meanwhile at New Lodge, Billericay Town – facing another Isthmian Premier campaign after so narrowly missing out on promotion last season – took on National League outfit Braintree Town, and Jack Patmore was reporting on that one.

Both matches resulted in a 2-0 win for the visitors.

In Cricket, I kept tabs on day three of the third Test at Lords between England and India – a match which eventually ended in triumph for the hosts late on Monday afternoon, as they won an epic encounter by 22 runs.

And in Tennis, the women’s singles final – despite not beginning until after 4pm on Centre Court – was over in 57 minutes and therefore well before the end of the programme, as Poland’s Iga Swiatek won her first Wimbledon title in a completely dominant straight sets performance, beating Amanda Anisimova of the United States 6-0 6-0 to clinch the one major title she had yet to win.
