Quick Bite

Here we are at the start of another week and I really hope you’ve been making the most of the recent fabulous weather.

Maybe you’ve enjoyed a “barbie” or two in the garden.

Well, if so at least you’re unlikely to have been going to a restaurant – and then “doing a runner!”

But tell me honestly, would you sit down for a meal at a restaurant, and then deliberately dash off without settling they bill?

Incredibly this seems to be an increasing trend so don’t be too surprised if you’re asked to pay up before you eat.

Staff at a Chinese restaurant in Uxbridge were shocked when a family of four including a child in arms leapt into a Mercedes Benz and even whilst a door was being held open for one of the group to get in, the driver hit the accelerator, leaving the staff with little chance of pursuit.

CCTV footage at another Chinese restaurant picked up the image of a woman plucking a hair from her head , before adding it to her meal and then using this as evidence of why she was unwilling to pay up!

One couple from Port Talbot in Wales managed to rack up over £1000 in unpaid restaurant bills between August 2023 and April 2024 by using their children as decoys, before they were finally snared. What’s more they had also been stealing from two supermarkets and obstructing and resisting a police officer.

They are now languishing at the pleasure of His Majesty where they may find the delicacies on offer not quite to their taste!

In the second hour of today’s show we heard about a sport’s injury. As this involved a footballer, we can assume that this incident took place in an earlier season of the year

A footballer had to be taken to hospital after suffering an injury to his face but he wasn’t sad for long after he discovered he could squirt liquid from his chin as a result.

Most of us would be alarmed if we drank a cup of tea and the water started seeping out our faces but that wasn’t the case for Gary Hake, from Chatham, who seemed to be pleased he had developed the weird talent.

The 35-year-old had been playing for Sheppey and Sheerness United FC when he went in for a challenge with a rival.

He came off worst and managed to reopen an old chin injury he suffered nearly a decade ago.

‘I remember jumping up for a header and then I’m not entirely sure what happened,’ he said.

‘I don’t know if it was an elbow or what but the next thing I remember is coming down in a bit of a daze with blood everywhere.’

While in the hospital waiting room his niece filmed water spurting from the opening and posted the clip on line for the delight and/or disgust of viewers.

The dad of two, who has since been described as ‘the human teapot’, said squirting the water did not hurt.

Well at least that’s good to know.

Well if you can stomach that I hope you’ll join me again tomorrow,
Scott
