The UK is expected to experience its third heatwave of the summer later this week, and it may be the most extensive and prolonged so far.
A high-pressure system is forecast to develop, bringing plenty of sunshine and drawing in hot air from continental Europe via southerly or south-easterly winds.
Temperatures could reach up to 33°C (91°F) in parts of England over the weekend, while warm or hot conditions are also likely across Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland.
Some areas may see seven consecutive days where temperatures surpass their local heatwave thresholds. UV and pollen levels are also expected to be high or very high.

Martin’s Choice – My song for this week is by the American band The Beach Boys”
Sadly Brian Wilson passed away just recently and I wanted to pay a tribute to him.
I’ve grown up to the sound of the Beachboys and their songs have played a big part in my life. They Formed in California In 1961 and started off as a garage band. It was a total family ensemble made up of brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson their cousin Mike Love and their friend Al Jardine. There have been Band membership changes during the bands career but these guys were the founders of what would be a long legacy of great music and great songwriting by Brian Wilson.
Their early songs had adolescent oriented lyrics centred around the early sixties beach scene, their first hit was surfing USA In 1963, beginning a string of top-ten singles both in America and the Uk.
Around 1965 the band moved away from beachgoing themes for more personal lyrics and ambitious orchestrations under Brian Wilson’s direction. They often incorporated Classical music or jazz elements and unconventional recording techniques in innovative ways.
In 1966 they released the Album Pet Sounds and the single Good Vibrations, this raised the group’s prestige as rock innovators, its well known that the Beatles at the time thought the album Pet Sounds was the best album ever written!
This was at a time when the Beatles had just released their album Sergeant Peppers !!
I’ve only scratched the surface of this band’s legacy, needless to say their music will go on forever! Up to now they have sold in excess of over 100 Million records world wide, quite an achievement!
The song I have chosen is one of their later songs which was released in 1979 and includes a classical music line from Johann Sebastian Bach which is the intro and the outro to the song. The song I’ve chosen is Lady Lynda.
