These days you don’t seem to be able to turn on the news without hearing about some new action or executive order issued by President Trump.
Well clearly one Australian MP is impressed as he’s legally changed his name to Austin Trump, in honour of President Donald Trump.
Yes, truly, Ben Dawkins, an independent MP in Western Australia’s upper house has legally changed his name and is now listed on his “X” account as the Hon. Aussie Trump MLC.
He announced he was doing this to protest against what he described as “the tyranny and systematic corruption of the Labor government in WA”.
He’s encouraged voters to, “Vote Labor Out! & Drill Baby Drill!.” Adding that he wants to be like Trump by calling out woke leftist nonsense.
“This is simply attention-seeking stuff,” Western Australia’s State Premier Roger Cook, told a news conference last week, adding, ”I’m not sure how much lower he can go.”
Western Australia state elections are due to take place next month, before the country goes to the polls in a nationwide vote that must be held before 17 May.
Meanwhile in an effort to counter US proposals to take action against The Panama Canal, absorb Canada into the USA, and either to buy or take over Greenland by force, a petition is doing the rounds in Denmark suggesting that the country might like to submit a bid to buy the state of California.
It’s been claimed by the sponsors of the petition that they have already garnered some 200,000 supporters.
Well following the recent issues of fire and latterly floods, suffered by the state of California, perhaps they might benefit from a “fire sale”!
The petition suggests that “It’s is in our national interest to promote the extraordinary heritage of our Nation, so California will become New Denmark.”
Under the scheme, Disneyland would be renamed “Hans Christian Andersenland”
Promising to send “Lego executives and the cast of Borgen” to make the deal, the petition aims to turn Los Angeles into “Løs Ångeles” adding that “rule of law, universal health care, and fact-based politics might apply”.
The financial target is suggested to be “one trillion dollars (give or take a few billion)” which would require donations of “just 200,000 kroner (£22,335) from every Dane”.
Wonder how that will go down with “the Donald”!
