I’m sorry to say I had some very sad news to report today. My dear friend Daphne Norris passed away last weekend just a few weeks short of her 90th Birthday. For more than two years now I’ve been playing a song for Daphne on the show every week. Chosen by Daphne herself, they were always good songs.
Daphne lived in the local area all of her life. I first met her 4 years ago when I moved house. We quickly became very good friends. At Christmas in 2023 Daphne featured in her own show here on Phoenix FM, reminiscing about times past.
Daphne lived with a heart full of love, generosity, and care. I will never forget her. Our thoughts go out to her family, a son and daughter, grandchildren and great grandson.
So today for the very last time, as a tribute, I played three songs for Daphne, along with part of that chat I had with her in which we learned a little about her childhood, growing up in Wartime Shenfield. A wonderful friend with a heart so true.
