We learnt today that if you happened to live around Norwich, ordering a Hawaiian pizza, will cost you a pretty penny.
It seems that one local pizzeria, LUPA PIZZA charges no less than £100 for the Hawaiian pizza as owner of the establishment, Francis Wolf says that in his opinion pineapple is not a viable topping and shouldn’t be there.
“Tropical fruits don’t belong on pizzas,” he said.
Lupa’s head chef, Quin Jianoran, agreed, “I love a pina colada, but pineapple on pizza? Never! I’d rather put a bloody strawberry on one than that tropical menace.”
The pizzeria has only just allowed pineapple as a topping, but only on its online delivery menu — but it comes at the hefty price to discourage customers from ordering it.
“Yeah, for £100 you can have it,” reads the menu listing for its Hawaiian pizza on food delivery app Deliveroo.
“We’re not fans of pineapple over here and we don’t think that anyone else should be either.”
“Order the champagne too!,” the description continues to taunt. “Go on you Monster!.”
So far no one has taken up this generous offer!
Lupa’s other classics including Pepperoni, Meatball and Napoli range from £12 to £17.
For this week’s historical feature Margaret Mills took us back to the 14th century to look at the father and son Walker family, based in West Hanningfield, who in their day which was between 1584 and 1616, were renowned map makers.
If you missed what Margaret told me you can listen again here:-
I very much hope that you will be able to join me once more next week,
