Shining a light on the ongoing effects of suicide

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

Revd Julie Hardy, Bridget Holley, Anna Huntley and Jane Bennett visited Jo Bailey on her Drive show to shine a light on “Smashing the Stigma,” a powerful initiative bringing together community organisations to support those affected by suicide.

The group spoke passionately about the upcoming community event. A safe, inclusive outdoor gathering where anyone can attend, simply to listen or to share their experiences if they choose.

Julie explained that you don’t have to say anything at all – just being present is enough, and if you do want to talk, someone will always be there for you.

Driven by a mission to break down barriers and foster understanding, the guests emphasised that the impact of suicide ripples far beyond the individual, touching families, friends and the wider community.

The event takes place on Saturday 13th September from 12pm to 4pm, at Butterfly Meadow, Hall Lane, Shenfield.
