PHOENIX SPORT – 2ND NOVEMBER 2024

A few shocks in the world of football this weekend, from the Premier League where Bournemouth scored their first ever victory over champions Manchester City to the first round proper of the FA Cup, where there were a number of upsets including a 1-0 win for Dagenham & Redbridge of the National League away to Sky Bet League Two side Crewe Alexandra, thanks to a 73rd minute penalty conversion by Dion Pereira.

There was only a narrow defeat for another National League outfit, namely Southend United who were eventually beaten 4-3 by Charlton Athletic of League One, in front of Roots Hall’s largest attendance for five seasons.

No such excitement in the featured match on Phoenix Sport though, as Billericay Town were held to a goalless draw away to Whitehawk in the Isthmian Premier League – although Gary McCann’s men remain unbeaten and in second place.
