Tino and Annie are members of the Hutton East Asian Community. They talked enthusiastically how this group had grown from five people in 2021 meeting around a kitchen table, to now being over 70 and increasing. It had begun with just Chinese people living in Hutton and now including people from a wider group of east Asian backgrounds. Some of these are married to partners from different backgrounds and so the group is now very diverse. The group now meets four times a year in St. Peter’s church in Hutton for food, followed by worship. Looking at cultural heritage has also emerged as a focus. There are a wide range of tradition skills within the group, for example Chinese calligraphy. They are exploring how these skills might be shared.
Tino is a Licenced Lay Minister at the Hutton C of E churches. He feels that God has taken his original vision and has now expanded it in a way that could not have been planned or predicted.
Paul Beasley Murray told us that the next day he was having his hair dyed shocking pink to raise money for Farleigh Hospice. Last year 207 people were cared for in the specialist unit. 1,570 had home visits, with staff making 14,424 visits. It costs £7.7 million to provide all their services for a year. Paul is 80 years of age. He is hoping to raise at least £2,000. You can find more information and give via his just giving page.
