You may have heard us playing Filthy Blood by Irrenoid on a recent Rising Stars show – but who is Irrenoid? We caught up with him to find out more about his life and music.

Tell us a little bit about your yourself?

I’m Irrenoid, an experimental producer from Denver, Colorado in the US. I pioneered the Post-Chipstep genre (a blend of Chiptune, Melodic Dubstep, and Post-Industrial music). I believe that freedom of expression and honest communication is the best recipe for truly creative, boundary-breaking music. I’m autistic and LGBTQ+, both of which have played a major role in my life as a musician. I also have permanent frontal and temporal lobe brain damage from a childhood accident, however, I’m happy I got the brain damage as I feel it has given me a unique perspective throughout my life.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

When I was 11 years old I heard Avenged Sevenfold’s track “Chapter Four” when some older teenagers were looking after me and it blew my mind. That day was when my musical journey began.

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

Avenged Sevenfold, Red, Black Veil Brides (favorite band), Breaking Benjamin, Bring Me The Horizon, Mayday Parade, Escape the Fate, Falling in Reverse.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

My music blends nostalgic vibes with genre-bending qualities.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

Across all of my years as a musician, I’ve released a great number of albums and songs, but as Irrenoid, I’ve fully released one album and multiple standalone singles. I’m currently working on my second full-length Irrenoid album called “V” which will be released on September 7th!

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

At the moment I’ve been listening to a lot of Alternative Metal and Metalcore; Poppy, Kim Dracula, Black Veil Brides (favorite band), Maggie Lindemann, Synestia/Disembodied Tyrant, and Knocked Loose.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

I would love to do a song with any of the members of Black Veil Brides; they’re all wonderfully talented musicians and kind individuals.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m releasing my new album “V” on September 7th, 2024! I’m also working on my first music video for my recently released single “Filthy Blood”, and I’m trying to have that music video out by next month!
