Welcome to a brand new series of Mental Health Matters.  This is a monthly podcast produced by Brentwood and Billericay’s community radio station, Phoenix FM, in collaboration with The Essex Community Tree Network, a network of partner organisations listing services who provide support for people that are experiencing mental ill-health and related problems.

Michelle Ward chats to Toyin Balogun Okunuga from Roar Through Art, a unique community project to engage young people and women who have experienced some level of trauma The group uses combined art – expressive writing, poetry, dance, music, and drama – to a community of people whose mental fitness is transformed through expressing emotions effectively and artistically, creating and promoting an environment of healed hearts through art.

Miuke Porter talks to Nikki Schuster, Chief Executive Officer of Renew Counselling and Training, local experts in providing a safe space, amplifying voices and supporting people to grow and develop.

Jo Bailey caught up with Carol Wakeman about Find Your Active. Carol is a qualified nurse and the Community Connector for Brentwood and the surrounding areas, and she explains the benefits of exercise and how it can help reduce anxiety.
